About Rochester, Kent
Rochester is an ancient historic city on the banks of the River Medway. A Roman stronghold since AD43, has a proud and long heritage.
Of particular note are its connections to Charles Dickens. The Dickens' family moved to Chatham when Charles was five. Many of Dickens novels included references to Rochester and the surrounding area. Rochester holds two annual festivals in his honour, the Dickens and Dickensian Christmas Festival.
